Test and Tag also known as conduct in-service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies is a method of ensuring compliance with Australian Electrical Safety Standards / regulations and workplace safety.
In order to comply with duty of care and workplace health & safety legislation, all workplaces Australia-wide must be able to demonstrate safe systems of work.
As such, cables and appliances are required to be tested and then tagged with test details and detailed records of the test kept by the technician.
This covers a wide range of electrical equipment including portable and plugged in electrical equipment such as: PRCD residual current device testing, single-phase, three-phase, electrical appliances and electrical cord assemblies.
This course is an introduction to electrical safety theories that are the base units for all restricted electrical training.

This course is designed for those looking to learn how to check and test and tag appliances, electrical cord assemblies, tools and RCD devices around their home and for industry and your workplace.
Please note, that as per Queensland Legislation, if you wish to provide professional appliance testing services to other organisations, you require an Electrical contractors license or Restricted Electrical Contractors license.
You must have basic level 3 numeracy and literacy skills to complete this course.
There are no course requirements.
Successful completion of this course deems you a “Competent Person” qualified to carry out Testing and Tagging to the Australian Standards AS/NZS 3760 for safety and compliance.
It is important to note that obtaining a test and tag competency only allows you to test appliances in-house, electrical portable appliances and cords or portable appliances/ cords owned by your employer.
The Test and Tag qualification is not an electrical licence. You are not allowed to service, repair or install any electrical work with this test and tag competency.

Students complete 6-10hrs of online training prior to attending the 1 day on site face to face (F2F) practical at Bizmatrix training centre. PLEASE NOTE : The face to face component can also be completed via video conferencing if you don’t live near or can’t visit our Brisbane training centre.
Before you book a course:
• Understand the online learning and assessment commences on enrolment.
• Plan your study periods and attendance to the regular virtual online class or recording of the class.
• Allow at least 1-2 weeks to complete the online learning & assessments.
• Understand all online learning must be completed prior to the face to face (F2F) practical training
• Check the due dates for the online learning and the assessments
• Consider bringing your PAT Tester to the practical sessions.
