Who Is This Course Designed For?

This course is designed for those looking to learn how to check and test and tag appliances, electrical cord assemblies, tools and RCD devices around their home, for industry and your workplace.

Please note, in Queensland, legislation states that if you wish to provide professional appliance testing services to other organisations, you require an Electrical contractors license or Restricted Electrical Contractors license.

 

Course Requirements:

There are no formal requirements, but you must have basic level 3 numeracy and literacy skills to complete this course.

Course Delivery:

  • Approximately 6 hours of online training, plus
  • 1 day on site face to face practical training, either:
    • At Bizmatrix’s Brisbane training centre if you are local, or 
    • Via video conferencing if you can’t visit us.

Before you book a course:

  • Understand the online learning and assessment commences on enrolment.
  • Plan your study periods and attendance to the regular virtual online class or recording of the class.
  • Allow at least 1-2 weeks to complete the online learning & assessments.
  • Understand all online learning must be completed prior to the face to face (F2F) practical training
  • Check the due dates for the online learning and the assessments
  • Consider bringing your PAT Tester to the practical sessions.

  • Successful completion of this course deems you a “Competent Person” qualified to carry out Testing and Tagging to the Australian Standards AS/NZS 3760 for safety and compliance.
  • It is important to note that obtaining a test and tag competency only allows you to test appliances in-house, electrical portable appliances and cords or portable appliances/ cords owned by your employer.
  • The Test and Tag qualification is not an electrical licence. You are not allowed to service, repair or install any electrical work with this test and tag competency.
  • If you wish to do any electrical work or obtain a restricted electrical licence visit our Restricted Electrical Course for eligibility or information.

  • UEECD0007 Apply work health and safety regulations,codes and practices in the workplace
  • UEERL0003 – Conduct in-Service safety testing of electrical cord connected equipment and cord assemblies | known as (Test & Tag)

Face-to-face sessions at our Brendale Training Centre, Brisbane, and regularly in other cities, e.g. Sydney, Canberra, Hobart.

Mobile Training Centre: on-demand training in other locations if sufficient numbers.
