WHAT CAN I WORK ON?

What is Type A Gas Appliance?
Type A Gas Appliance is basically a mass produced and certified commercial and domestic gas appliances, where a gas certification scheme exists. Often there is a program to test and certify the same type of appliance for mass production.

COURSE REQUIREMENTS

The course is open to non-tradespersons or licensed tradespersons within the plumbing, electrical, mechanical, electronics, metal work, refrigeration and air-conditioning fields, who are required to work on and install, commission and service Type A gas appliances, gas pipework for Type A gas appliances, reticulated gas supplies including gas cylinders/gas tanks, mobile and portable caravans and marine installations.

In order to enrol there are a few eligibility requirements that you must adhere to. First of all, you must be officially employed or self-employed and have access to a licensed Gas
Fitter for the Supervision of the practical experience declaration / logbook hours.

Next, you must agree to the Training Plan Agreement to achieve the required due dates milestones of the learnings and assessments, and meet a minimum of dress safety standards and have all of the required protective equipment for practical classes – Your own, safety boots, eye protection and long sleeve flame proof shirts and long pants. Provide evidence of investing in the required test equipment and tools required for the Gas Work Licence education, and to effectively complete your obligations as a licensed Gas Fitter, to work effectively and professionally as Gas Work Licensed

RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING

If you believe you are eligible for recognition of prior learning, such as having completed work similar to Certificate III in Gas Fitting units in another trade or if you are a plumber, you may be eligible for RPL specific to the plumbing specific units or non-gas subjects.

NOTE: unlicensed gas work will not be considered for RPL

All students applying for RPL must go through an application process, this is so that we can have a clear understanding of your experience. Completing this application means that you will be able to complete the course in less time and potentially with a discount.

There is a fee of $500 GST free for the RPL application process. (To be paid in full before your RPL application will commence)

The RPL application must include all evidence as listed below, please paint the picture and supply a copy of all the required evidence.

The RPL processing time can take up to 2 weeks.  Once your application is paid for and submitted, you will be notified by phone or email about the outcome within the allocated timeframe.

Below is the History Information Documentation which is required for your application assessment – you will need to include ALL documents.
•  Must send us a copy of your training centre (e.g. TAFE) results which include the unit numbers and outcomes. Results need to have current unit numbers – please note results can be no older than approximately 3-5 yrs. The units need to be current.
•  A copy of your Plumbing Licence – must be current and have available any work history.
•  A copy of any other training Statement of Attainments – e.g. Working at heights, scaffolding, PE welding etc.
•  If you have any Licences that have expired – please advise when this expired and what type of Licence you held e.g. Full, Interim or other.
•  A copy or list of any supporting work experiences to support the RPL- paint the picture and provide evidence and experience.

NOTE: Documents will need to be current JP certified when submitted

After the RPL application process has been completed and you have been advised of the outcome including the costs for your training, and you wish to proceed with any gap training deemed necessary, the RPL fee will be deducted from your overall course cost. COURSE OUTCOMES

Upon graduating from the Bizmatrix CPC32720 Certificate III in Gas Fitting course, you will be able to apply for the first provision licence a Gas Work Licence (Interim).

This is the first step and means that you will be able to work as a gas fitter while supervised by a fully licensed fitter. During this timeframe, you will be required to complete the 60 hrs/ minimum of 10 jobs practical experience declaration/logbook. This commenced on your enrolment and must be completed within 3 years from the GWL (Interim)

Plus, you are required to complete four more training units which can be found here, these units are not included in this course and are part of the Certificate IV in Plumbing and Services however are mandatory to be completed so that you can receive their full open Gas Work Licence.

Basically when you achieve the GWL Interim and have completed the 60 hrs Practical Experience Declaration and the (4) four X Gas specific Certificate IV in plumbing and Gas units – you then apply for the Gas Fitters Gas Work Licence .

NOTE: Bizmatrix CPC32720 Certificate III in Gas Fitting is a full qualification, therefore upon successful completion you will receive a nationally accredited Certificate III in Gas Fitting. Beware that many other training organisations only offer a record of results/statement of attainment for units completed and not the full Certificate III in Gas fitting .

COURSE DELIVERY

The CPC32720 Certificate III in Gas Fitting is delivered through in class practical with online learning to be completed prior to and during the face to face (F2F) training.

As soon as you enrol you will be able to commence with the online training and assessments. As well as legally commence your supervised gas fitting practical experience Logbook hours .

As a pre-requisite, all online study must be completed as per the Training Plan Agreement due dates and all online units fully completed at least 7 days prior to the attendance of the face to face practical.

The online training is designed to underpin your knowledge, increase your volume of learning and reduces the theory on the face to face practical days.
