When it comes to dealing with gas and electricity, it is important to make sure your appliances are checked by a competent or licenced person regularly. For those moments when you want to do it yourself, there is a conduct in-service safety testing course/test and tag training in Brisbane available that will teach you how to perform a basic electric inspection of your home, work and office appliances.

A gas safety inspection is also important as gas leaks can be quite dangerous as well. If you suspect a gas leak, turn off the gas and get a licenced gas fitter to check and repair.

Here, we will explore more about the importance of electrical inspection and testing.

Performing Electrical Inspections

An electrical inspection should be performed by someone who has the competency to compete with electrical safety checks. This is vital as the electrical safety check ensures the person has been appropriately trained on issues to be aware of and how to fix any problems that are found. It is important to note that an electric safety checker or competent person is not necessarily licensed to fix electrical issues and you may have to hire a licenced technician to fix any issues that are found.

The installation of electrical wiring and devices is crucial. After having new wiring or other electric work done, it is extremely important to make sure an inspection is performed. Make certain the licenced electrician/ Electrical contractor provides you with a sign off safety certificate.

When choosing someone to perform electrical work, it is important to make sure they have the relevant and current licences. Check the references of the company or the individual who is performing the work. If in doubt you can check their credentials on the Electrical Safety Office website.

Importance of Inspections

Electrical and gas inspections are extremely important for home, work and office safety. Faulty wiring can lead to all sorts of dangerous situations, including fires. Both electric and gas can cause potentially life-threatening problems if devices are not well maintained.

Hiring a certified/licenced electricity and gas person is essential for keeping your home, work and office up to date. Having these inspections performed regularly will ensure that all of your wires and appliances are in working order. This helps to lower the risk of an accident occurring.

Always be careful when hiring a person to do this type of work. It is not typically a good idea to try to do this work yourself as it requires knowledge of how electricity and gas works. These two sources of energy can be difficult to work with, which is why hiring someone with experience and the required competence is recommended.

If you wish to perform this type of work on your home, work or office make sure that you consider taking an electrical or gas course before starting the job. Bizmatrix Education is a Brisbane based training company who offers these Gas and electrical licence courses.  Visit them online to find out more.

  • I liked your post. Maintaining Electrical safety at home, workplace or any construction site is a major concern. As per National Safety Council, estimated 600-1000 people die each year from electrocution. It is important to make regular checking of electrical system at your home.

  • I didn’t realize that the Electrical Safety Office website allows you to check the credentials of an electrician. This would be really helpful for my mother. She needs to have some outlets added to her walls and to fix her flickering porch lights.

  • I really enjoyed this articles as this is something I’m preaching to the residents down here in South Florida. Many of the buildings are older and have been updated for hurricane protection but they fail to address the wiring and electrical issues. We are always telling condo owners and associations to get an inspection. They don’t realize how dangerous these old buildings are. Thanks again!

  • I really appreciate your information that you can hire an electric safety checker that is not a licensed electrician to do inspections but you need a certified electrician to make any repairs. This makes sense because there are probably apprentice electricians that help with inspections. It makes me wonder where I can find a licensed electrician to help me make the outlets in my kitchen work again.

  • Wonderful post! Maintaining electrical safety at home is most important because kids keep putting fingers inside damaged sockets or outlets or keep pulling naked wires. To avoid mishaps there must be an inspection of your home to make sure that all electrical appliances are working fine.

  • You made an interesting point when you said that faulty wiring can lead to all sorts of dangerous situations. My father has been renovating his house so that he can raise its value and sell it for a profit. He doesn’t have any electricity going to his house right now so it might be good for him to determine which professional electrical provider he should work with.

  • I like what you said about how an electrical inspection should be performed by a professional who has the competency who complete it safely. My uncle is planning on going into an electrician job. It would be really helpful for him to be able to take an electrical safety training course to train him.

  • I like how you emphasized the importance of having your wiring and appliances in your home or office up to date with the help of a professional electrician. I think a lot of people don’t pay attention to their electric system until it breaks down. I agree that if you set up a regular maintenance routine with an electrician then your house or office will be better off.

  • I agree that it is important to have an inspection performed if there is new wiring or other electrical work is done. My brother has noticed that some of his electrical outlets aren’t working and it isn’t the GFI switch. I’ll recommend that he have an electrician come and take a look.

My brother is considering looking for an electrical test and tag specialist because he noticed last week that there was a network dip in performance. • To function effectively in emergencies firefighters must apply courage, strength and at times the capacity for rapid, intense and sustained effort. You need to be able to follow instructions quickly, and as part of a team, at emergencies combined with the capacity to use initiative when tasked to work alone.

  • I think it’s great that you mentioned how electrical devices must be correctly maintained in order to prevent them from causing problems that could be life-threatening. My brother has been thinking about opening a business that repairs vehicles this summer, but he has noticed that the lights in the lobby have been flickering rapidly ever since it started raining. Maybe he should find an expert that can provide the maintenance needed to keep his business safe.

  • I agree that it wouldn’t be good to do electrical work yourself. I could see how it would be pretty easy to give yourself a nasty shock if you aren’t careful. I should probably leave any electrical work in my new house to a pro.
